Ron McQueen
Owner & International Certified Personal Trainer

I have over 20 years of personal training experience from New York to Berlin and everywhere in between.

I started teaching group exercise and personal training in the late 1980’s after moving to Los Angeles from Michigan where I grew up. My first professional job was at Beverly Hills Health and Fitness— where I established myself and began building a devoted clientele. It wasn’t long before I was training and teaching at some of the most respected clubs in Los Angeles. My reputation as an innovator encouraged other instructors and trainers looking for new ideas to attend my classes—I knew I was on my way to success.

While in L.A, my training clientele was mainly aerobic members looking to learn proper technique with weights in an effort to increase muscle definition. At this time my primary focus was sports-specific and outdoor training. This type of training included dynabands, jogging, running bleachers and other outdoor circuit work to take advantage of the great weather.

After working in LA for nearly five years, I returned to Michigan where I continued instructing aerobics and personal training. Like in LA, my career back home really took off. I taught seven days a week and became head personal trainer at one of East Lansing’s leading gyms. My training was such a success that Powerhouse Gym advertised my services on a local radio station for months to accumulate more memberships.

In 1994 I took my career to New York where I found high demand for my experience. Almost immediately, I was teaching 21 classes a week and personal training at some of the best clubs in the city and including Crunch Club, David Barton Gym, and World Gym, just to name a few. I also began a very successful in-home training program for busy business professionals. With my intense training schedule, teaching so many classes, and having accomplished all my goals in New York, I needed a change and began looking for my next challenge. Soon I was presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—an audition to teach in Europe. I competed against over 50 contenders and was the only one chosen. It was a dream come true.

I moved to Germany in 1996 where I taught aerobics and personal trained for over 4 years. I gave masterclasses and workshops and was on the aerobics circuit while working in Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Prague, Austria and other countries throughout Europe. I was also a presenter of the Aero- Step, a unique Step filled with air coils that was also great for strengthening and balance. I demonstrated this product while promoting my own creative sense of choreography while touring Germany. Additionally, I appeared in several German sport magazines discussing my personal training successes as well as my cycling and kickboxing classes.

In 1998 I spent six months in Australia teaching aerobics with some of Australia's top instructors. I learned a “tap free” type of Step and incorporated that style into my own routines. I taught in Melbourne and got a chance to experience the different teaching styles between Melbourne and Sydney. My classes in Australia were very popular and the experience was awesome! Even though I was in Australia for a short time, my training clients all showed quick and incredible results and are still dedicated as ever! They made the trip well worth it.

After leaving Australia I embarked on a 6-month world tour consisting of teaching and training. I worked in Hawaii for a short time– then back to New York – to Florida – to New Orleans – and finally back to Germany where I spent one more year. I met some fabulous people along the way. I’ve been teaching fitness internationally for years, and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to do so. It’s rewarding to see someone go from a size 12 to a 4 and make a huge difference in their lives – nothing beats that feeling.

Traveling has offered me many great opportunities. I have studied and worked with the best—gaining knowledge and meeting success many times along the way. In early 2000, I was ready to come back to the States for good and settle down. I chose Seattle and am grateful that I made this decision. My success here is just what I hoped it would be – owning my own gym and having the awesome dedicated clients that I do - I couldn’t think of a better place to be!
